Too often the "retirement package" for a professional wrestler comes with spinal stenosis, a broken neck, a prescription pain pill addiction or, somehow, something worse. It's a physically brutal sport, and athletes have been hiding their real pain in favor of the spectacle since the 19th century. In more recent years, WWE has been moved to address the dangers of its sport—the concussions, the seizures, the spasms. But sooner or later, every wrestler gets hurt, and it's not part of the act.
