The Hudson River and New York City
How Many Dead Bodies Have Been Found In The Hudson?
By CHRIS LITTLECHILD
History - Science
New York's Hudson River carves a path through the state, making it crucial to the region. However, it also has a sinister reputation for the bodies discovered in its depths.
It’s impossible to say how many bodies have been or are found in its waters, but MV Organizing suggests that around 59 are discovered yearly.
Most of the found bodies reportedly originate from New York City — around 50 — with Hudson County and Bergen County accounting for the remainder.
Many killers also dispose of their victims in the river, such as Mary Rogers, whose mysterious murder inspired Edgar Allen Poe’s short story "The Mystery Of Marie Roget."
