HOW QUEEN ELIZABETH'S FINAL PUBLIC APPEARANCE USHERED IN A NEW ERA FOR THE UK
By MICHAEL DAWSON
History - Science
On September 8, 2022, Queen Elizabeth II tragically passed away at the age of 96, leaving behind an enormous legacy that will forever have a heavy mark on British history. The queen had made numerous public appearances during her life, but her final appearance marked something different in royal routine.
The final year of Queen Elizabeth II's life was marked by health issues and missed public appearances, all of which drew fervent media attention. The queen's final appearance took place on September 6, 2022, just days before her death, at her Balmoral estate in Scotland, which was normally reserved for her summer months.
Normally, these constitutional appearances happen in Buckingham Palace in London, but the Queen's deteriorating health had put such routines into question, thus creating a new precedent for Royal procedure. Only time will tell what this means for future monarch procedure.
