Bryon Anthony McCane II (also known as Bizzy Bone) was born in Columbus, Ohio in 1976. When he was 4 years old, his stepfather kidnapped him and his two sisters, Heather and Hope, telling them that their mother and grandmother were dead.

For years, McCane and his sisters essentially lived on the run; they were forced to beg strangers for food and were told to take cover whenever they heard police cars. McCane himself was routinely beaten and sexually abused by his stepfather, but he was too young to realize the severity of what was happening to him.

The McCane children were finally rescued after their mother, Roseanne Jefferson, sought the assistance of John Walsh and had their pictures displayed at the end of a 1983 TV movie about the abduction and murder of Walsh’s son, Adam. A woman who lived near the McCanes saw the pictures and immediately notified the FBI.

After his rescue, McCane suffered abuse from his mother’s new husband and ended up in foster care. His foster mother was loving, but he continued to struggle with his painful past and was living on the streets at 13, eventually meeting one of his future bandmates, Layzie Bone, at a “dopehouse” in Cleveland.

Despite the incredible adversity he has faced, McCane has worked hard to move on from his past and focus on the future. He has been open about his experience with abuse and abduction, and has even incorporated it into the lyrics of his songs.
