By NICOLE ROSENTHAL
History - Science
Ringo Starr of The Beatles married his first wife, Maureen Starkey, in 1965 after discovering she was pregnant. The two remained together for a decade and had three children.
According to UK Express, the two met at The Cavern Club in Liverpool in 1962 when she was 15. Unfortunately, several issues would drive the couple apart.
The duo divorced in 1975, reportedly due to a combination of Starr's untreated alcoholism and extramarital affairs, according to The Independent.
After the divorce, Starkey stayed out of the limelight until she died on December 30, 1994, at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, Washington.
She died from complications related to the treatment she was receiving for myelodysplastic syndrome, a pre-leukemic disease. She was 47 years old.
