Elvis Presley had a twin brother named Jesse Garon Presley, who died at birth. According to a biography of Elvis, his mother, Gladys Presley, said, "When one twin died, the one that lived got all the strength of both," — while his father, Vernon Presley, felt that God intended for Elvis to be "the only child we'd ever need."
One conspiracy theory surrounding Jesse suggests that he did not die at birth, but was instead a frequent body double for Elvis. For example, in footage from a 1970 interview, fans have pointed out inconsistencies with Elvis's eye color and mannerisms, suggesting instead that Jesse was actually doing the interview.
Conspiracy theorists also use Jesse's death certificate as proof that he did not die at birth, as the certificate states his date of death as January 7th, 1935, while he and Elvis were actually born on January 8th. The theorists believe the incorrect date to be the result of a cover-up to hide the fact that Jesse lived into adulthood.
Within a Facebook group dedicated to proving that Presley is still alive — or at least did not die in 1977 — Jesse is a common topic of discussion. However, the truth is that Jesse was buried in a shoe box next to his uncle in Tupelo, Mississippi, the Presleys' hometown — and has a cenotaph next to Elvis' grave in the Graceland mansion.
