Angelica Cataldo

• Angelica grew up backstage with KISS, and brought that same love for classic rock with her when she ventured forth to discover and mold her own eclectic musical taste.
• She's especially interested in the historical context behind music, focusing on how world events, politics, and culture shaped the sound of a given era.
• She's an active vinyl collector who treats record shopping like a big research project and is always chasing the story behind a pressing as much as the music itself.

Experience

Angelica got her start writing about arts and entertainment in high school and college, taking local string reporter gigs while working toward her degree. She spent almost three years writing for The A.V. Club and The Takeout, covering food, books, movies, music, TV, and video games. She later worked with Taste of Home before joining Grunge. She's a self-taught guitar player and spent plenty of time in and around Chicago's alternative scene. She had a weird pivot into other industries like fintech and health foods as a content and social media manager, but writing about music and culture is what she keeps coming back to.

Angelica has a bachelor's degree in journalism from Eastern Illinois University.
