  • Jack Hawkins has been writing about film for years, building his knowledge of the medium and tuning the ways in which he interprets and reflects upon them.
  • Since the so-called Golden Age of Television, the small screen has become Jack's second love. He recognises that the TV series is an expression not of the director but the writer.
  • Holding a master's degree in military history, Jack Hawkins has a flair for the past. He enjoys writing about the New Hollywood period of cinema, which began in the mid-to-late 60s and ended in around 1980.

Jack Hawkins is a writer and film critic whose work can be found on Rotten Tomatoes and HeyUGuys, where he writes features and reviews. He also provides coverage for press screenings, media events and film festivals, such as BFI London Film Festival.

Jack holds a BA in English literature and an MA in military history. These sound very different from each other yet they are disciplines with many similarities. The main distinction is that one concerns fictional characters, the other factual. However, both can help us understand our collective (in)humanity.
