He began his professional career at The Register-Guard in Eugene, Oregon, collaborating with a small team that launched CAFE 541, a dynamic arts and entertainment section delivering news across the southern Willamette Valley. After three years at the daily paper, Matt transitioned into national digital coverage as a lifestyle news reporter, working to reestablish The Manual as the place to go for Millennial men looking to live engaged lives.

Matt has a master's in education from Wayne State University in Detroit and a master's in journalism from the University of Oregon.
