- While living and working in Amsterdam, Alia had the opportunity to embrace her inner audiophile by interviewing some of her favorite artists, such as Erika de Casier.
- She also helped to platform Italian DJ Riccardo Balli's Gabber Manifesto in Western Europe.
- Although her music taste has drastically expanded over the years, her first few vinyl records included the Dire Straits, the Strokes, Alvvays, and the Grateful Dead.
Experience
Alia started working as a contributing editor for Amsterdam-based Glamcult magazine in 2020, writing articles for both the print and online publications. Many of which included interviews with musicians, as well as coverage of the latest album releases, giving her the opportunity to explore the creative processes of artists from around the world. She joined Static Media in 2025, and contributed to The List before joining Grunge in 2026.
Education
Alia received her bachelor's degree in literary and cultural analysis from the University of Amsterdam and her master's degree in art and design culture from the Vrije Universiteit of Amsterdam.
