How Many Emmys Has Jay Leno Won?

Jay Leno is one of the most beloved American talk-show hosts of all time. He is best known for being the host of NBC's "The Tonight Show" from 1992 to 2009. According to Britannica, he was also the host of his own show "The Jay Leno Show," which ran from 2009 until its cancellation in 2010. Afterward, Leno hosted "The Tonight Show" again until the year 2014. Outside of hosting talk shows, Jay Leno also owns a very impressive collection of automobiles, showing a lot of enthusiasm for car collecting on his show "Jay Leno's Garage."

His car enthusiasm, however, actually led to a major accident. As reported by CNN, tragedy struck Leno on November 14 as he suffered from gasoline fire-related injuries that occurred in his garage. According to reports, the burns were quite severe on his hands and face and led to hospitalization. However, he is expected to recover. 

Leno has also been quite popular with awards shows, having been nominated for quite a few Emmys — and even winning some.

He has received numerous Emmy nominations

Outside of Jay Leno's Emmy wins, the talk show host has a large number of nominations to boot. According to the Emmys website, Leno picked up a staggering 20 nominations over the years. Leno's show "Jay Leno's Garage" has picked up the lion's share of them, being nominated for outstanding short-format nonfiction program multiple times over the years. 

"The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" has also been nominated for Emmys multiple times for outstanding variety, music, or comedy series. As Britannica explains, "The Tonight Show" is a long-running staple of American late-night television. It has had six hosts over the years, such as Conan O'Brien, Johnny Carson, Jay Leno, Steve Allen, Jack Paar, and current host Jimmy Fallon. Its core show routine involves guests that come on and talk on the show, musical numbers, comedy and improv, and so on.

Jay Leno has won two Emmys

Jay Leno has been the recipient of many honors. Outside of being a talk show host, he's also written books, done public speaking, wrote columns for Popular Mechanics magazine, and more. According to the Emmys website, he and his wife Mavis Leno both work with the Gender Apartheid campaign, a feminist organization dedicated to championing women's rights across the world. As of now, Leno has won two Emmys. 

Leno won an Emmy for outstanding short-format nonfiction program in 2011 for his show "Jay Leno's Garage." The program showcases Leno's enormous automobile collection while he teaches views about car history. As stated by IMDb, "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" also received a Primetime Emmy in 1995 for outstanding variety, music, or comedy series.
